Beaches of Blue Mountain
Countless beaches perch the shores of our area including two Blue Flag designated Beaches, Northwinds and Christie Beach. Additional beaches include Craigleith Provincial Park, Council Beach and Peasmarsh Beach.
Beaver River Canoeing
Named by the Huron people for the innumerable Beaver sightings along the way, the Beaver River is a fast flowing incredible canoe route winding through the trees! Join at the Beaver River Access Point located off Grey Roade 13 and canoe or kayak to take in the beautiful Ontario landscapes. Park and launch or arrange to have a canoe delivered.
Fish Ladder
How often do you watch a fish ladder? Partake in this fascinating spawing grounds and fish ladder which aids the fish to return to their original spawning grounds up-river to start a new cycle of regeneration. Amidst this awe, enjoy the beautiful views of Thornbury Harbour and the Beaver River.
Fossil Tracing
Trace the lines of fossils from more than 450 million years ago along the shores of Georgian Bay. Grab your pen adn paper and start at Craigleith Provincial Park offering some of the greatest specimens. Just ensure you look and don't touch so we save this for our future generations!
Harbourlands & Millenium Park
Based at the historical Collingwood Terminals, this series of beautiful walkways and gardens are one of the most treasured of Collingwood.
Kayaking
Ensure your summer involves a one hour kayak (one way) ride to the historic Lighthouse constructed in 1855-59, this is one of the most historic structures on the Great Lakes. The island itself is called Nottawasaga Island and is visible from the shores of Collingwood.
Kite Boarding
Watch the jumps, flips and turns of the great kite boarders at Sunset Point, a local past time and tradition for visitors!
Nottawasaga Canoe Route
Journey through 23.5 km of river through Wasaga Beach and what has been named the Nottawasaga area in your canoe or kayak. Launch yourself at Edenvale (hwy 26) and enjoy an area name as part of the post-glacial Lake Algonquin 12000 years ago.
Sunset Point
The perfect place to capture a breathtaking sunset or simply toss a rock into the still waters. Sunset Point offers a unique park for the family and kids, a beach, parklands and a snack shop to feed your hunger. Definitey a spot that locals and tourists have come to know and love.
