If you still aren't sure which option to choose, we'll go into more detail about each choice below. Remember for each service, there are a number of both pros and cons - no option is perfect! However, depending on what you are looking for, one service may be better suited for you than others.
Booking with Blue Mountain Lodges
How To Rent Directly: Renting directly is a similar process to booking with a hotel. This method allows you to rent directly from a vacation rental company, instead of renting through Airbnb or other options. When you rent directly, you can book online through the company's website, or call to speak with a live person to help you set up your accommodations.
Pros: Many people have a generally positive experience renting directly (though it can vary based on the company you work with). With direct rentals, you are often presented with nearly endless possibilities! From chalets, to condos, to resorts, to entire houses or single rooms - renting directly opens you up to so many different types of accommodations.
When you rent directly, you work closely with the company you are booking with – making it easier to find the best deals and packages. Unlike OTA services, you will know exactly what you're getting every time. Renting directly generally gets you the best price as well - there are no additional fees or mark-ups. For example, when you book with Blue Mountain Lodges directly, you can save up to 10%.
Cons: As we mentioned above, booking directly will greatly vary based on the company you choose to work with. Some companies are extremely professional, while others may be inexperienced or intentionally misleading. Unlike highly popular sites such as Airbnb, you may not be able to find reviews as easily. Because of this, it's important that you research and find out as much information as possible before choosing to book to avoid any potential problems.

How To Use Airbnb: Airbnb is an OTA site that allows you to find and book a variety of rental properties. Although Airbnb began as a listing for bed and breakfasts, it soon evolved after a branding in 2009. Now you can use their site to find a greater variety of properties including houses, apartments, single rooms, condos, and more.
Pros: Because rentals are usuaully someone's home, many vacationers choose Airbnb because they are looking for a "homey" experience away from home. Unlike staying in a hotel, Airbnb allows you to stay in a location among locals - instead of feeling separated in a trendy area where most hotels are based.
Rentals range from small rooms to large houses, and because of that, there are many different options across many different price points. Airbnb has millions of properties listed on their website. Another thing that Airbnb users like is the comprehensive rating system. Each property includes customer reviews and ratings on accuracy, communication, location, cleanliness, and more!
Cons: Airbnb simply lists rental properties - it does not control the accommodations. This means that some renters have found that rooms or accommodations were not as advertised, or that prices changed unexpectedly. Others have criticized Airbnb’s customer service. These renters found Airbnb difficult to get in touch with, or were not satisfied with the help they received. In order to book with Airbnb, you must create an account, link to your Facebook, and upload an image. This may cause some challenges for users who just want a simple booking experience.

How To Use VRBO: VRBO stands for Vacation Rental By Owner. It is an OTA website similar to Airbnb. However, VRBO is actually much older and has been around since the 90’s. Like Airbnb, you can book properties that home and property owners are renting out. You can book online from their extensive online listings website.
Pros: Unlike some other options, VRBO does not require you to create an account to book with them, which makes the site very easy to use. This is ideal for those looking to quickly and easily book once or twice. VRBO has been around for quite a while, and tends to attract professional property renters rather than homeowners looking to make a quick buck. If you are looking to accommodate a large group, such as a business trip or big family getaway, VRBO is often preferred as there are many larger properties that can accommodate big groups.
Cons: Although VRBO does offer damage protection, you will likely have to solve any issues you run into yourself. That's because if you happen to have an issue, you will have to deal directly with the property owner - not VRBO. VRBO does have reviews for properties. However, it doesn't work directly with property owners - meaning the reviews may not be accurate and VRBO cannot confirm the accuracy of them.

How To Book With a Hotel: Booking directly with a hotel is generally a simple process. You can go directly to their website and book online (for example, the Marriott). Or, if you prefer speaking with someone directly, you can call their front desk and book over the phone.
Pros: Hotel bookings are one of the simplest ways find accommodations. When you book directly with a hotel, you already know the hotel you want to work with! You don't have to sift through pages of rental properties, or constantly re-define your preferences. With a hotel, it's easy to see what you will be getting. If you find yourself at a well-rated hotel, it is likely you will receive excellent service as well as very clean and organized accommodations.
If you don't like booking online, you can choose to call the front desk instead and book by talking to a live person. With many hotels, there are also programs and memberships that reward repeat customers. For example, Marriott members have the benefit of staying up to 100 nights per year free (at the highest level). Hotel ratings will greatly vary based on the hotel, so it is hard to say exactly how 'good' or 'bad' a hotel is. However, in general, 3+ star rated hotels usually have favourable reviews.
Cons: Although there are a wide variety of hotels, you will have a more limited selection when it comes to hotels. Although there are some unique hotels out there, most will look and feel relatively similar - especially if you are renting outside of a tourist area. Hotels can also cost a lot more for smaller accommodations vs renting a room from a homeowner. Good hotels are well maintained and consistent, but if you’re looking for a trendy or new experience in a brand new city, you may not be satisfied when staying in a generic hotel.

“Our unit was very comfortable for me, my husband, and daughter. The location was close to the village. My daughter loved the pool and how close it was to the unit. The staff were friendly and welcoming. We liked having less than a five minute drive to the beach! We hope to go again next year!”
